To visit a place
With memories of you
Is to run in the morning
In grass covered in dew
It’s good for me
To take it all in
Exposure therapy
To feel the prick on my overly sensitive skin
It may hurt now
As I jog and try to keep pace
My heart and lungs
The red in my face
It had to be done sometime
To keep my endurance up
But maybe it’s too soon
There doesn’t seem to be enough sun
I went here with you
We lived these moments
Why can’t I
move on
I’d rather run on the scorching pavement
Or even in the fog
But to visit a place
With memories of you
Is simply something
I just don’t want to do
But I did it today
I ran in the mist
And while I stopped to remember
And while your presence was missed
New memories were made
Ones without you
And I find it a little bit easier
To run in the dew
