As sophomores in college, we were unaware of how much a used couch should cost. Looking back on it now, we were robbed blind. The cushions do not stay on; they slide every which way if you sit for more than five minutes. The velcro we used to keep them together failed miserably. We had to bolt the couch pieces together to prevent them from shifting apart from one another.
What amazes me is the comradery on this couch that has occurred over the years despite its faults. This is my favorite spot in our quaint leased college home. My roomates and I find ourselves sitting there for hours on end, soaking up every moment we have. Those memories spent inside those four walls and on that couch are essential to my core college experience.
We’ve binged TV shows on that couch.
We hosted hometown friends on that couch.
I turned 21 sitting on that couch.
We watched the Superbowl on that couch.
We’ve completed endless homework assignments on that couch.
We’ve
smiled,
cried,
laughed,
and experienced life,
On. That. Couch.
Leaving Lakeside means leaving the place that was home to my favorite people, memories, experiences,
And most of all, my favorite couch.
